How did they settle the Pacific? Navigators & the Mattang

27 Jun 2018 by SGD Sacred Geometry Decoded

The Pacific Ocean is a vast expanse that covers almost half the globe. The people of the Pacific Islands were not only navigating between islands of the same group but also communicating between island groups. An extraordinary feat even when you know the general direction.

Though how did they find the islands in the first place?

It's extraordinary enough to find another distant island in simple craft and no modern navigation equipment. However to discover new islands to settle is even more amazing! How did they do it?
The knowledge was almost lost. An old man in the Marshall Islands held the secret and luckily it was preserved before it disappeared.

Using the MATTANG as a teaching aid young navigators were taught how to read the reflection and deflection of waves from distant islands.
