Wake up and smell the whiskey.
Irish whiskey brand Jameson is blessing brunch tables with coffee’s new boozy best friend: Jameson Cold Brew. The brunch-ready booze boasts a blend of Jameson’s triple-distilled whiskey and a fairtrade Arabica bean brew from Brazil and Colombia. It’s also 70 proof (35% ABV) which makes it slightly less alcoholic than a true whiskey at 80 proof or higher.
Toasted oak, dark chocolate and, of course, coffee make it an ideal companion with a number of cocktails besides Irish coffee, according to the Jameson’s website, such as an Espresso Martini, a “Cold” Fashioned or just plain on the rocks.
It’s safe to say that Jameson isn’t the first brand to catch on to the cold brew craze. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Harpoon Brewery, Jägermeister and SKYY have all released coffee-flavored bevs.
Jameson Cold Brew will be available for pre-order starting Saturday on ReserveBar.com for $37 (750 ml), which will begin shipping by Feb. 10, according to the website. Bars and restaurants will begin carrying the limited-time liquor as soon as next week.
