UNPRECEDENTED OCTOBER SNOWFALL ON TRACK TO BURY BRITISH COLUMBIA

Mount Washington Alpine Resort received its first blast of winter this week. Kayla Stockton, the resort’s marketing manager, said 15+ cm of snow accumulated throughout the latter half of the weekend alone. And looking at the latest forecasts, there is much, much more on the way…

La Niña conditions –the appearance of cooler than normal water in the eastern and central Pacific Ocean– is expected to increase BC’s snowpack this season, which in turn should push forward the Alpine Resorts opening day–currently set for Dec 4. Stockton says the weekend’s blast of snow is a good early sign of what may be to come, particularly when combined with the La Niña advisory.

Looking at the latest GFS (shown below), British Columbia might not have long to wait before extreme and unprecedented snow hits the province.

Winter is forecast to arrive early, with bone-chilling COLD and feet upon feet upon feet of SNOW predicted to hit starting Thursday, October 15.

Debilitating snow totals look set to batter the length of the province, with the south appearing to cop the worst of it. Here, 4+ feet of global warming goodness is on the cards from Fri, Oct 16 through Thurs, Oct 22:

Furthermore, it isn’t just BC bracing for record-busting winter-like conditions.

A band of heavy and disruptive snow is forecast to span the entire breadth of the North American continent, clipping the provinces and states of Alberta, Washington, Montana, Saskatchewan, North Dakota, Minnesota, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, as well as practically ALL of the Northeastern United States:

This, if it plays out as predicted, will be a record-smashing event. It could even steer a few sheep off of the dogmatic AGW party line (though I wouldn’t hold your breath).
