Chuck's picture corner to Sept. 1, 2025

It's been a week of cool nights around 10c or 50f. Cardinal did manage a small amount of rain this week revitalizing the gardens some, but not so much as to call the summer's drought over. I did a first harvest of the season , enough to spend a couple of days making the first batch of chili, about 12 liters. It tasted great as Shawnah, Rachelle, and I sat for a meal of it straight out of the big 16 quart pot.

the asters of fall

still lots of tomatoes left for more chili

Family picture day at the falls, lol (a cormorant)

Hogs back falls in Ottawa (the Rideau river)

one of the many pics taken this day

I went to High school not far from here and it was sad to see all the fences up but the ducks seemed to enjoy the privacy they provided.

It's not half full , lol

final touches

garlic from Egypt, and ginger from Peru, what a world of produce I live in.

prepared to blanch, then a ice water dip for peeling.

the bad boys, lol, fruity volcano,  Jamaican hot, and jalapeno peppers, I didn't use them all and the chili turned out plenty spicy enough.

took 3-4 hours to chop the peppers.
