Metaphysics, My family tradition.

Bartonian metaphysical philosophy By C. Barton

 Jan. 6, 2026

I have come to see my Life as two dimensional. I exist in both of these dimensions and they come together in who I am.

Outer Space

One dimension I call ‘outerspace’, or the physical reality. It is 3 dimensional and moves like clockwork in time. There are energies such as gravity, electro magnatism, and cosmic rays of various sorts. It works according to the laws of physics. In some ways it’s a play already written.

Creatures experience and navigate outer space via their senses. Vision, hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting. These senses gives us different feedback on our local environment. In the case of sight much further away from that. All living creatures large and small have physical senses. Life experience physically is centered by our senses.

Our physical senses are translated by the conscious mind.

Inner Space

The other dimension I live in I call ‘innerspace’. This dimension is a completely different reality. It has no space (3 dimensions) or time. The energies of innerspace are Life energy, will, a burning tip of conscious awareness, and emotion. In this dimension I can evolve or change.

Inner space also has senses. Most philosophers through history consider these senses based on the chakra’s of the body. The minds eye, inner voices, the odour of emotions, feelings, solar plexus/gut feelings.

Inner space senses (metaphysical senses) are translated by the sub conscious mind.

Words to shed light on one’s inner space, and illuminate one’s inner powers.

Inspiration.

An inspiration is a product of your thought, like a brilliant idea. If you have the next revolutionary inspiration like the printing press, the telephone, or the computer, you may just change the world.

Inspire means to excite, encourage, or breathe life into.

Inspire comes from the Latin word that means to inflame or to blow in to. When you inspire something, it is as if you are blowing air over a low flame to make it grow.

The noun inspiration can also mean a sudden intuition or idea, or something that arouses your desire to take action. You may find that doing some routine provides inspiration (gets your creative juices flowing), like going for a walk, looking at art, or reading a great poem.

arousal of the mind to special unusual activity or creativity

the act of arousing to a particular emotion or action

a sudden intuition as part of solving a problem

a product of your creative thinking and work

(theology) a special influence of a divinity on the minds of human beings

the act of inhaling; the drawing in of air (or other gases) as in breathing

the state of wanting to know or learn about something or someone.

Inspiration can also mean breathing in or inhaling.

Instinct:

Built into every fibre of all living things from their intrinsic heritage.

Refers to innate, unlearned patterns of behavior, thoughts, or feelings that guide actions, often related to survival (like fight-or-flight, hunger, self-preservation) or reproduction, operating as deep-seated urges or intuitive responses without conscious reasoning or prior experience.

While often seen as automatic, they can be complex, like maternal care, and involve genetic predispositions that influence motivation and adaptation.

Innate: Present at birth, not learned through experience.
Unlearned: Doesn't require conscious teaching or practice.
Automatic/Involuntary: Happens without deliberate thought, like a reflex.
Universal: Shared by most members of a species, though expressed differently.
Motivational: Drives actions to meet basic needs (e.g., food, sleep, sex, safety).
Often promoted by pain: Emotional or physical, most often the combination.

In Humans:
Survival: Becoming super human when motivated by fear, fight-or-flight response, , sucking reflex in infants,
Social: Love, maternal instincts, desire for connection, jealousy, sympathy,
Basic Needs: Hunger, thirst, sleep, sexual drive.

Instinct vs. Intuition:
Instinct: An innate behavior or action pattern (e.g., flinching from a hot stove) , sex, self image.
Intuition: An innate feeling or knowing without reasoning (e.g., a gut feeling , dream, inner voice).

Intuition?

Intuition is not logical. It is not the result of a set of considered steps that can be shared or explained. Instead, while based on deep-seated knowledge, the process feels natural, almost instinctual.

And yet, while intuition is quick and usually beneficial, it is not always entirely accurate. The subconscious brain attempts to recognize, process, and use patterns of thinking based on prior experience and a best guess.

Paradoxically, intuition feels unknowable. After all, you cannot explain the thinking behind a snap decision that appears out of nowhere.

It just happens.

While intuition occurs in your day-to-day life, it is sometimes most apparent in the decisions of experts.

Business

Perhaps surprisingly, many of the world’s most influential businesspeople admit to making decisions based on intuition rather than logical, deliberate thinking.

Human intuition is massively important – an evolved function fundamental to our ancestors’ survival – but it can be mistaken.

Intrinsic

Intrinsic is an adjective that describes something that belongs to the essential nature of a thing. It refers to qualities or values that are inherent and natural parts of an object or concept.

  • Essential Nature: Intrinsic qualities are fundamental to the identity of the subject.

Natural Part: These attributes occur naturally and are not imposed from outside.

  • In Human Nature: Creativity is often described as intrinsic to human nature, meaning it is a natural part of being human.

Understanding intrinsic helps in recognizing the core attributes that define various subjects, whether in nature, human behavior, or objects.

Insightful

Insightful means having or showing a clear and original understanding of a complicated problem or situation. It often describes comments, analyses, or observations that reveal deep understanding.

The term "insightful" is an adjective that describes someone or something that shows a clear and often original understanding of a complex problem or situation. It indicates a deep perception or awareness.

  • Understanding: Exhibits a clear grasp of intricate issues.

Perceptiveness: Demonstrates the ability to see beyond the surface.

Originality: Often involves unique or fresh perspectives.

Intellect

That faculty of the human soul or mind, which receives or comprehends the ideas communicated to it by the senses or by perception, or by other means; the faculty of thinking; otherwise called the understanding. A clear intellect receives and entertains the same ideas which another communicates with perspicuity.

Insatiable

If someone can't be satisfied, perhaps for food, perhaps for learning.

Someone who is insatiable can never be full.

It can be used for spiritual as well as physical desires. Swift's traveling Gulliver talks about his "insatiable desire of seeing foreign countries."

Intent

infinate.. intesimal.. individual

infatuate

Inhibit.. infectious..

Intend .. invigorate.
